West Newton Worship and Youth Center began around 1952 when the late founders Rev. Floyd Allen Allender found the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.  Pastor “Dutch Allender” and his wife Juanita “Tom” (Henderson) Allender started what was then called, Holiness Church of God in Christ, on King Ave in Indianapolis with their family.

In 1958 five acres of land were purchased, and the West Newton Full Gospel Tabernacle was built. Rev. Allender and the congregation built a soul-saving station until Pastor Allender passed in 1990 leaving his assistant pastor Tony R. Cannon and wife Janet Allender (Floyd’s daughter) to lead the congregation.

In early 2000’s, the church was renamed West Newton Worship and Youth Center. Even though the church name has been changed, the message has not.

West Newton Worship and Youth Center has been under the guidance of Bishop Tony R. Cannon for over 25 years. Just recently in August 2020, Bishop Tony passed the shepherd’s staff to our new Senior Pastor, Joe McGill, and his wife Christy.
